Mayfair's SME Survey
Mayfair's directors are well connected. We talk to Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME) every day. SMEs are vital to the Economy, and we talk to their directors at every opportunity.
When doing so, we take the opportunity to ask three key questions as set out below, the answers we get, always lead us to one conclusion, and, when we check our understanding with SME directors, they always agree that we understand exactly where their business stands.
The three questions are:
1. Are you actively hiring people at the moment?
2. Are you planning an advertising campaign to hire new people in the near future?
3. If a Mayfair coached person approached your company, after having researched their own career, your business, and yourself, and presented you with a business case which demonstrated the possibility of business growth if they joined your team, would you want to hold a meeting with them?
The answers to questions 1 & 2 are almost always 'No'. It is indeed rare to find an SME which is actively hiring at present.
However, the answer to question 3 is always 'Yes'.
This leads us to conclude that the company is open for business, even though not actively hiring, and that the right way to approach a company which is open for business, is the Mayfair way.
On checking our conclusion, we always find that the SME director we have been talking to is in complete agreement.
