The business may consider interim, consultancy or contract management. These are temporary solutions, ulitmately unsatisfactory and again, expensive.

As an alternative, Mayfair offers the option of a manager who owns a portfolio of roles. A Portfolio Manager is mature and vastly experienced. Managerial experience may well include time as a director of a large company. This level of experience would provide the business with a significant degree of expertise at an affordable cost.

Typically the manager would have enjoyed a substantial salary, but one business in the Portfolio would only pay a fraction of this. The business will be one of up to three non-competitive members of the manager's Portfolio, enjoying the manager's full set of skills and experience for a flexibly agreed package.

The Portfolio Manager will have a permanent part-time agreement which may include stock options, thus bringing commitment to, and sincere involvement in the business. Skills and Experience are used efficiently and productively as limited time concentrates the business on effectiveness.

A Portfolio Manager will also bring credibility to the business. A management board or senior team member with such vast experience will raise the business profile with shareholders and investors alike.

Indicative costs for a full time experienced director may be a base salary of £80,000, for which recruitment fees at 15% would be £12,000. An equivalent Portfolio Manager might accept a salary of £20,000, and Mayfair's fees (10%) would be £2,000. A first year saving of £70,000.
